Through Ryland's Eyes

This morning while looking through the pictures on my phone, I began to realize just how Ryland loves to take pictures. Just about every day she asks me if she can take pictures with my phone, and most of the time, she comes out with some pretty fun images! She takes pictures of us, her toys, the cat...and I'm pretty sure it never gets old to her. It's fun to see through her eyes, so I thought I would share.

It's light out!

Ryland has always paid very close attention to detail, so it's no surprise to me that she has started playing very close attention to wether it is light or dark outside and how that correlates to when we sleep. The other day I asked her if she was tired, and she responded with "yes, but it's not dark outside yet". And when she wakes up in the morning or from naps, the first thing out of her mouth is "it's light outside! Let's play!". I can't wait until the weather gets better, so we can actually go play outside in the sunlight!

We took a winter stroll the other day, and enjoyed some family picture time :) Ryland loves to go on walks, and she loves taking pictures...so it was a blast. Enjoy!

"No, I will do it!"

Ryland is becoming quite the independant little lady these days. She wants to put on her own pants, open the fridge herself, feed herself, take her own pictures, etc..etc...

She is always saying "let me do it". The other day, she even tried to convince me to let her change her own diaper. Knowing that that wouldn't really work...I declined, but other than that, Ryland sure is doing things on her own these days. Pretty sure she has even changed her "real" name to Pete. Well, ok, Champ and I actually had something to do with that, but we thought it was just her nickname. Now when you ask her "Ryland what is your name?", she responds with "Pete, and my nickname is Ryland". So don't be offended if the next time you call her Ryland, she quickly corrects you with "my name is Pete". :)

Playing around

Ryland woke up this morning apparently thinking she had some work to do. She immediately got out of bed, got her tool box from Christmas, and started hammering away. She even got out the piece of wood Champ brought home the other day. She told me the following things while playing

"we know this is the pliers, I know that"

"this is what Santa brought me"

"I'm doing hard work"

"it's 20 inches and a half"

Oh Why Can't Everyday Be Like Christmas?

I'm really not sure how to break it to Ryland that Christmas is over. She is constantly requesting Christmas songs in the car, and we keep playing them for her. I just figure, it'll keep us in the holiday spirit for the whole year of 2012 :) It amazes me how she has learned so many songs in the last couple months. She has a couple favorite Christmas CD's, and she knows what each song is just from the first few notes.

We haven't taken our tree down yet, or the decorations, but sad to say we'll be putting them away this weekend. I've tried to figure out how to make this a fun experience for Ryland, but not sure how to go about that quite yet. I figure we better move on to the next holiday and put up some Valentine's Day stuff.
